About
As with most web sites, an About page is usually present. But this site’s purpose is fairly new so I cannot offer any insight into it other than it is mainly a personal journal.
About the owner of this site, Erica Lee, no personal detail will be released, but if you should like to learn more read my postings or visit the other sites listed under Network. Other than that, you will have a very brief peek into who I am personally:

I am an artist. I love to draw and paint. I am planning on becoming an Illustrator, this field of Art focuses mainly on articulating thoughts, ideas, and feelings into visual elements that can be understood. In addition to this career, I also plan to be a freelance writer, writing being another one of my great interests aside from art and reading.

The Site
Fifth Flight, the name literally means, the “fifth” step in a “flight” of stairs. But the name itself was influenced by a poem called Five Flights Up by Elizabeth Bishop. In eighth grade, my English class required that we choose a poem of our liking, memorize it, and perform it to the class. I cannot memorize it off the top of my head but here is the poem in its entirety:
Five Flights Up
Elizabeth Bishop
Still dark.
The unknown bird sits on his usual branch.
The little dog next door barks in his sleep
inquiringly, just once.
Perhaps in his sleep, too, the bird inquires
once or twice, quavering.
Questions—if that is what they are—
answered directly, simply,
by day itself.
Enormous morning, ponderous, meticulous;
gray light streaking each bare branch,
each single twig, along one side,
making another tree, of glassy veins…
The bird still sits there. Now he seems to yawn.
The little black dog runs
in his yard.
His owner’s voice arises, stern,
“You ought to be ashamed!”
What has he done?
He bounces cheerfully up and down;
he rushes in circles in the fallen leaves.
Obviously, he has no sense of shame.
He and the bird know everything is answered,
all taken care of,
no need to ask again.
—Yesterday brought to today so lightly!
(A yesterday I find almost impossible to lift.)
