Sleepless High
Daily Quips, NewsBy the end of the day, I realize that I have been stabbed to death in more ways than one. I only managed to, I believe, snatch about an hour half of sleep, perhaps even less. That blasted alarm on my brother’s cellphone blared off at every ten minute interval beginning at about four thirty in the morning (coincidentally the time I managed to climb into bed). I’m surprised my parents didn’t even wake up.
After finally managing to settle in and sleep with odd and strangely adrenaline pumping dreams, the bane in my peaceful slumber storms into my room yelling, “Wake up, Erica! It’s six! I don’t want to be late!”
Second-degree murder lurked in the recesses of my mind. I unwillingly unfurled myself from the warmth of the blanket and crawled into the bathroom to get ready. So thus begins my day…
First period past by with me furiously trying to finish homework and classwork at the same time – vocabulary words for government study are unbearable long and unnecessary. Second period offered only criticism albeit constructive and some praise were merited for my rushed art piece. Third period had me laughing excitedly at my peers’ Frankenstein presentations – puppets and hilarious voice acting were all it took. Third period ended and break came. That’s where my high kicked in.
I went on my art teacher’s computer to check my e-mail and ‘lo and behold I was approved to write for 3six5’s lifestreaming project. This particular project garners up 365 writers to write for all 365 days for the year 2010. A compilation of 365 peoples’ experiences and revelations.
Now that I look back at the end of my school day, it passed by rather fast after reading 3six5’s reply to my author application. Being stabbed to death numerous times – three projects that needed to be finished and turned in along with incomplete homework – didn’t seem so bad anymore.
I can’t wait until I write for my particular day for 3six5.
